Close Encounters of the Clean Kind is a weekend long celebration of recovery from the disease of addiction. NA is a fellowship of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. NA members meet regularly to help each other to stay clean by working the Twelve Steps of Narcotics Anonymous. The Twelve Traditions of Narcotics Anonymous are the guideline that unite the groups and assures that recovery is available to every addict who attends NA meetings. Close Encounters adheres to the Twelve Traditions and provides a forum to share the principles of the Twelve Steps.

Close Encounters of the Clean Kind convention includes recovery meetings 24 hours a day, workshops on recovery related topics, keynote speakers who share their recovery experiences, strengths and hopes. There are also dances, banquets and fellowship. There is convention memorabilia for sale.

Currently the convention is typically held on the last weekend of February in Omaha, Nebraska. The last in person Close Encounters of the Clean Kind was our 36th annual convention and concluded on February 26, 2023. There were 1,653 registered addicts in attendance.
